Drum Sets as Christmas Gift

Christmas is just around the corner. If you are like most you are starting to think of what to get your children for Christmas and are looking for ideas.

You could also be thinking of getting that one ‘big’ gift. However, you want something that has a constructive aspect to it, something that might bring some education to your child. One of the more popular ‘big’ gifts over the years has been kids drum sets.

Recently a group of parents that had purchased a drum set for their child shed some light on why. The majority said that it was a better way to get their child more involved and active. When asked to explain the parents gave several reasons.

Unfortunately, today more and more kids are spending more and more time in front of the television. A good majority of those spend it playing video games. Although there maybe some, however little, mental stimulus playing games there is virtual none in watching television. In addition while kids are in front of the television many consume food. The result are kids are becoming lazy and overweight.

Many of the parents stated that although their child did not seem to be lazy or overweight they did not want them to continue to spend countless hours in front of the television with no activity and potentially become lazy and overweight.

Although they figured that drums could be a bit annoying every now and then the long term affects of stimulating their child through using drums far outweighed a little annoyance.

The results were the drums helped their children in many ways. Playing drums is very physical and they were able to burn many more calories then watching television keeping them from becoming overweight. Their hand-eye coordination greatly improved and many parents swear their kids, the ones who choose to play sports, are better athletes because of this.

In addition to the physical side of playing drums it also stimulates the brain more. From learning how to read music to multitasking the different drums that are played the brain is extremely active.

One of the last results, which was not super important to the parents but more so for the kids was popularity. The ‘cool’ factor for their child went up once other kids heard them play.

As you can see there are many great reasons for buying your child his or her first drum set. And who knows maybe that drum set will lead to a career in music and help take care of you when you are old and gray. Happy Christmas!
